Racer X: Second Heat
« Back
From the blazing diminished arpeggio sequence at the start of Sacrifice, Racer X’s sophomore effort delivers time and time again. This recording shows tremendous growth in the songwriting department. Catchy tunes such as Gone too Far, Living the Hard Way, and the priest-like Heart of a Lion show a slight departure from the over the top, in your face Street Lethal. Do not fear shredheads! The toxic twin duo of Paul Gilbert and Bruce Bouillet produces mind-blowing lines that will keep most amps humming 12 hours a day. Motor Man with its sweeping insanity, courtesy of Bruce, will leave one to retrieve the rest of his jaw from the floor. Lady-Killer sounds like a leftover from the first album, but still accomplishes the admirable goal of overall shred domination. Need I say more? Second Heat gets 9 stars out of 10. Throw this one in, and crank it up, if you dare.
